Kent-Moore EN-48313 GM Timing Chain Retainer Set
For GM/General Motors.
A change from the current 3/8 inch timing chain for the high feature V6 engine family drives the need for a new timing chain retention tool. EN-48313 is required to service the camshaft position actuators (phasers) as well as the camshafts, camshaft followers, valve springs and valve seals on High Feature V6 engines with the 7.7mm timing drive system (built after May, 2006).
Without EN-48313, repair or replacement of any of the aforementioned engine components will require the removal of the engine front cover and the disassembly of the entire camshaft timing system resulting in excessive labor time. Once the camshaft covers are removed, EN-48383 is then installed to retain the camshafts in their proper orientation. The timing chain and it’s position relative to the camshaft position actuators is marked to ensure proper reassembly. EN-48313 is then installed allowing for the removal of the camshaft actuator(s) while maintaining proper camshaft position timing.
